June 2nd 2008 23:00
Logan City Queensland

Logan City is located in South East Queensland and is the state's third largest city behind Brisbane and Gold Coast with a population of around 250,000.

Boasting a combination of vitality, rich history and serene environment, the city is a great weekend getaway for residents in Brisbane due to their close proximity (25 kilometres). The climate in Logan City is of a tropical nature with December, January and February the hottest months of the year with a mean maximum temperature of 29.5 degrees celsius. June, July and August are the colder months with a mean maximum of 21 degrees celsius. The annual mean maximum and minimum temperatures are 25.9 and 14.9 respectively.

The city offers a range of experiences for tourists ranging from wildlife, recreation and culture to dining, entertainment and shopping.

At the Kingston Butter Factory Community Arts Centre, you will find arts and crafts available for purchase; the Historical Museum which contains memorabilia from the past (open between 10 am and 4.30 pm daily) and tours of the facility also available.

Another must-see is the Logan River Tinnie Trail, a self-guided heritage trail along the Logan, which tells a fascinating history of river life since the early 1800s.

May is the busiest month of the year in Logan City with the annual Mayfest taking place. Mayfest offers a multitude of events and activities for all ages including art exhibitions and vintage cars to theatre and poetry in a pub.

Logan City boasts some 500 parks so it's easy to see why relaxation and fresh air is popular pastime. The pick of the bunch would be splendid waterfront parks such as Riverdale Park and Alexander Clark Park. Riverdale Park has great open spaces in which to play and is nestled beside the Logan River, making it a great spot to do some fishing.
